Frequently Asked Questions

Bookmark this page for future reference.

Are the classes in English?

No. Basic understanding of Greek and the Greek alphabet are recommended, however you may join as a viewer and see how far you get. We welcome you to do that.

I am not in the USA or Canada. Can I join?

We can conditionally accept non-US or non-Canada students if there are open slots and provided that the schedule is convenient to you due to the time difference.

How do I join the online classroom on Saturday?

Check the email that was sent to you in the beginning of the semester. There is a link in that email which begins with something like this: https://us06web.zoom.us
Click on the link and then log in using your ZOOM username and password. Normally, that should let you into the classroom. If you are asked for a Meeting ID and password, enter those as they appear in the email.

Do I need a ZOOM account to take classes?

Yes, you do. Prior to the first class, go to zoom.com and create an account for yourself. It is free and only takes a few minutes. Before each class, you will need to log into your ZOOM account to join the classroom.

While you are creating a ZOOM account, take a moment to test your camera and microphone by completing a quick test at zoom.us/test
Make sure to answer the questions about the video and microphone.

What are the dates and times?

The time zone is for New York City. Classes are usually on Saturdays for ten weekends, with some weekends skipped for holidays.

The exact times and dates can be found on the registration form.

Can I view any classes I missed or rewatch classes?

Yes, email us.
Please note that it is up to our discretion to send you this link. We expect students to attend class. Please do not assume that you can skip classes and rely on watching the recordings later. This is a free class and part of the learning process is immersion in the dialect by participating in class. If you have skipped too many classes then you must attend again to be considered an active student and eligible to receive access to the video recordings. The price you pay for the teacher's proprietary teaching material is your time in class.

Can I get a copy of the classroom slides?

Yes, email us.
Again, please note that it is up to our discretion to send you this link. If you have skipped too many classes then you must attend again to be considered an active student and eligible to receive access to the video recordings. The price you pay for the teacher's proprietary teaching material is your time in class.

Are there any other resources?

Yes, please join our Facebook Group called: Arhontoula's Pontiaka Lessons Community in USA & Canada
In the group, the teacher and each student can post resources to richen the learning base. To join the group, ask us in class, and we will send you an invite to this Facebook Group.

I have suggestions or compliments. How can I relay them to you?

Alway free free to email us at info@panagiasoumela.org
Also, every few lessons we will have a feedback form, which is anonymous.

Thank You

Keep Pontos in your heart ❤️
